The synagogue

The synagogue of Arlon is the first in Belgium.

In 1860, the Israelite community of Arlon, very important for its number and for its commercial activity, decided to build a synagogue.

In a romantic-Byzantine style, its exterior facade has oriental features. Arlon also houses the oldest Jewish cemetery in Wallonia still in existence (1856).
